3 hours should be sufficient for your connection to Krabi.

You should relax and enjoy Krabi. If you are interested, there are day trips you can schedule from your hotel. Don't fill up all of your time with "touring."

In Bangkok, you'll want to visit the Grand Palace/Emerald Buddha, Wat Po (Relcining Buddha), Wat Tramit (Golden Buddha). I'd also recommend the Erawan Shrine and the Jim Thompson House.

Any restaurant will make vegetarian food for you. You might get someone to write in Thai what your dietary requirements are.

You can easily get cash from ATMs, but many ATMs do have a charge. You can charge hotels and meals at some restaurants to a credit card. Small restaurants and shops and market you will need cash.

You don't need a guide in Krabi. You don't need a guide in Bangkok, but if you want one, you might ask your hotel.

Take a taxi from the airport to you hotel. Make sure the driver turns on the meter. Tolls are in addition to the meter charge.

Buy a guidebook to Thailand.

Enjoy!
