Thailand Honeymoon, please HELP!!!
Hello all, first thank you for taking the time to read our question! We are leaving for our honeymoon in Thailand in Nov, we arrive, fri nov 19 at 10pm and leave sun nov 28 at 7am. So here are our questions, we would like to do a few days in BKK, i know that everyone says you need at least 5 there, but i think we would prefer 3, what is a good hotel that has some good shopping close buy, and a good tailor close also? Also i think we would like to go to Wat Po and get a thai massage? Is that a good idea? For the last part of the trip we would like to go south i think, and do some scuba diving, both my wife and i are both certified, and while we are there we would LOVE to have a bungalow on the beach! So who can help us out there? Know of any good places in Krabi or Pi pi that has a door that opens right onto the beach??? Whats the best way to get from BKK down south??? and finally should we come back sat night and stay at a hotel again in BKK for our flight out early sun am? Thank you all so much for any help you could give!!!! Have a wonderful day! Jeffrey and April

Will answer only part of your qn as know everyone on the forum has STRONG views on hotels. Would be better if you mention your budget - you will get better answers.
Tailor - for a reasonable tailor you can try JimMan on main Sukhumit Road at Asok - very conveniently located from the BTS (train). Have material and do stitching for men and women, BEST at copying. One of the attractions of getting clothes stitched in Bkk is you get 2 fittings so ensure you get them - insist as if you push a little they generally manage even 24 hour deliveries.
Wat Po - I have posted this before - go to the a/c room. It is not in the main temple so go to the massage area in the main temple and ask someone to guide you there - they may try to discourage you but insist. It is far less crowded, more private and IMO cleaner as well. Wat Po is an experience to be done once IMO tho I feel I had better Thai massages in Bkk.

I totally forgot about the budget part!!! We were thinking $50 to $100 a night. Also when we go down south, we dont really care about a/c as long as our door opens right to the water, and we know we might have to go over$100 for that

I'd suggest the Royal Orchid Towers as a place that will be within your budget and has good shopping and a good tailor next door. It is in a wonderful location. I have never personally stayed there but others on this forum have.

i don't think you will find the royal orchid sheraton available from $50-100...it will be more like $125+
the marriott resort and spa, my favoirte, might be available from an online hotel spot for about $100...you might look at the royal river hotel which is probably less than $50 and quite nice for what it is: clean and comfortable and right on the river...the holiday innn on silom is in your price range and you could upgrade to executive floor still in your price range and this is a good location...centre point apartments are in your pricerange and decent...there are several different bkk locations...the conrad had some specials this spring..its very nice..take a look at: www.huahin.20m.com and click on bangkok hotels or other places...their site usually includes tax, service and breakfasts...
as far as a tailor is concerned, you would be hard pressed to get anything decent in only 2 days...maybe if you started and finsihed your trip in bkk, you could with 2 days each side...you need fittings...or get a tailor at your island paradise...they are in most settings...
look at peace resort or any of the beach hotels along bophut beach on koh samui island...all have rooms close to the sea front...also the marriott or other hotels at hua hin are nice...

the pictures are 100% accurate and if anything do not do it justice...you will love it..
try this: www.huahin.20m.com or
www.asiavoyage24.com....
both are prepays, so don't book until you are sure....i have only used huahin...they charged me a 400B fee which was fine....note that both include breakfast and service and taxes which is a huge savings...
if money is an issue i would only book a garden view room, because the other is not really worth the extra as you will seldom be in your room...if the extra $$ are available then i would book a river view room...
if you do not like what you get speak to an assistant manager and they will fix you up...they are very accomodating....
have you considered using rat or the young driver i used from the marriott for something special while you are there??
