Thailand Honeymoon

My fiance and I are trying to determine where we want to take a honeymoon and we are leaning towards Thailand. We are trying to keep costs down but realize it will not be cheap and want to go for around 7 days. We want to experience the culture and get lots of R and R as well in a totally different atmosphere then we get in Wisconsin (HA HA). We want to go around June, July, or August. Any suggestions and recommendations on what cities to visit, hotels, and how many days we should spend where? Help please!!!

With a mere 7 days (I assume that is on the ground, not including travel time) plan to visit just two places. Bangkok for sure, and if you want a beach location, the Gulf of Thailand side (Koh Samui) will have better weather than the Adaman Sea side (Phuket, Krabi, etc).

We can help with hotels if you give us a per night budget.

the earlier you go the better weather..

honestly i would pick a bkk hotel with a fab pool and spend my whole time there:: anantara, royal orchid sheraton, hilton, nei lert, marriott sukhumvit park, marriott mayfair all come to mind..

hire a guide like tong or ratt and go outside for a day trip

I am wondering: How would staying the whole time at a Hilton or the like provide the "totally different atmosphere" Jen is looking for?

If the "Hilton or the like" is in Thailand, it will be a whole different atmosphere. While some chain hotels are much the same everywhere, many of these internationally owned hotels in Thailand are really exceptional.
