US $50,000. Personally I don't think it's worth it.

Hanuman, for $50,000 I agree. I assume that's the initial fee, and I note that they charge an annual fee as well.

I thought the elite card cost $25.000.. about 1 million baht..
the program has been a HUGE FLOP just as I expected.

my thnking was that. Thais (Asians) tend too hold way too much respect for rich people (ELITE FOLK). And those who so happen too have some money act verry elitest and tend too be out of touch with reality (and yes, act like jerks). Prime Minster Toksin who brain chiled the elite card defentgly fits the elitest jerk mold.. anyways... one part he forgot too consider is that jetsetters and verry wealthy busines people (especiall from the west) tend not to lock themselves into one destination. and those in that level read travel and lesiure, condi nes and other highter end mags and try too go too what ever the chic distination of the year is, Sure there are many wealthy folk that want too buy property and have a place too crash when they are in Thailand or just want to go too the Oriental hotel year after year. but I did not think the market was that big especially when ya have too pay $25.000 individual $50.000 corprate membership (2 members) for a lifetime membership. The government expected 100.000 members in the first year and 1 million members in the fist five years..

Now the program has become a big joke.. so far (1 year) about 500 membersships have been sold (95 bought/ given away too other asian elite.

accouple of weeks ago the BANGKOK POST had a story that the elite card is worth the cost of a T-shirt. After REAL MADRID played in town.. the team gave the Prime Minister a signed jersey and he presented the team with 2 elite cards that can bee used by any member of the club when they come too thailand. .

I actualy think that card is a really good value and is worth a look.. but thier is an isue with land ownership that makes the card almost useless for thse that wnat to live in thailand.

Orgy you're right it's US $25,000 for individuals and $50,000 for corperate membership.

Land ownership is the biggest draw of the Elite card but again that comes with certain restrictions.

Corrections: The biggest advertised draw of the Elite card was that the card's members can own land in Thailand. How ever, there are no sign that the government will amend the law or passed a new law which will entitle foreigners with the elite card to own land.

when the card first came out I thought it would be my ticket too stay in thailand for the long haul.. but as I read more.. it did not fill my needs.. I think if they pased those land ownership laws and included renewabkle 1 year vissas.. thier sales quota would be almost hit.. but the people buying them would be un important, rif raf like myselff.

the government is now saying that the new goal is too atrect ceo's and use membership as a "network" tool for future investment.
