Thailand - Bangkok Hotels

I was pleased to receive my complimentary copy of Fodor's Thailand this week and whilst thumbing through it I thought the range of hotels in Bkk was a bit conventional - I notice that these are the ones usually mentioned by posters too..

However if you could include one or two that aren't on the list, what would you include? why?

I haven't seen the list, but check out Homduang Hotel. Reasonable price, decent hotel.

The title is also missing - I think I'll get a re-post on this.

although judging by some of the comments in the book I assumed that most posters here either originated them or used them - which would mean they had the book?

I guess list or not it's those "out of the way gems" that would be nice - a bit off-beat or off the beaten so to speak.

I thought most people would have had the Fodor Thailand guide with the list, but I'll post that at a later date.

Anyhow, I'd like to recommend "Le Fenix" especially for those looking for a place for one or two nights.

Smallish rooms, the place it retro 60s in decor and quite well located off Sukhumvit.

Flat TV, wireless etc with the most ridiculous pool I've ever seen. roof top bar with prices even higher than the roof, worth a quick drink. "Q- bar is opposite, a good Thai-style restaurant about 20 yards away and a 7/11. Parking and a good breakfast.
about 2000 baht
