Thailand

Planning a trip back to Thailand after the end of this rainy season.

The aim is to take some photos and see new places..

Was thinking of heading up north along the coast above Phuket

Does anyone know how scenic that area is.

Some of the places I have been are in Moving Postcards

Thanks

Prachuap Khiri Khan, not the area but more specifically the town.

And Ao Maneo Beach, inside the Wing 5 Thai RAF Base.

Train goes from Bangkok to southern Thailand with lots of stops includ Prachuap. Prachuap has great scenary and food which is why I choose the username. Very few foreigners go there so its a real local vibe. Great seafood which is 3 times cheaper than touristy Hua Hin up the road. You could head to Surat Thani to catch the train north if starting in the south or Nakhon Si Thammarat which is a better city plus Khanom and Sichon beaches are nice.

Are you thinking Khao Lak? Havent been yet.

Yep was thinking of khao Lak and Khao Lampi and whether the area is scenic

I know the Similian islands are suppose to be nice

Indo-traveller. Here's the train timetable...

http://www.sawadee.com/thailand/tran...ain-south.html

The best train to get to PKK (imho) is No.43 which leaves Hualamphong at 0805. It's a 2nd Class service, 2 carriages only with a max of 130 passengers (ie. no standing allowed), and you really need to reserve your seat at least a couple of days in advance. Ticket costs 409 bahts (I think) and includes soft drinks and an adequate meal of rice/meat.

The train station in PKK is more-or-less in the town centre. A lovely trip, much better than being cramped up in a van.
