Thai Style Hotel reco in Phuket

Hi - I'm looking for recommendations for a hotel or resort that makes you feel like you're in Thailand. Many of the places I've seen so far are decorated very generically. To give a better idea of what I'm looking for, I was interested in the Sawasdee but it's booked for the end of November. I'd prefer some place on the quieter side (Karon, Kata?) but open to all Phuket suggestions. Budget is mid range, I think ($250/night max). Sorry for the vague question, but thought I'd give it a shot!

Thanks!

Try the Banyan Tree for architecture but the price is much higher than your budget.

Mom Tri's Villa Royale!! Private. Very nice Thai feel. It's overlooking Kata Noi beach.

Unfortunately, neither of these places are in your price range.

Wowwwweeee!! I'm soooo glad we stayed at Mom Tri's when the prices were more reasonable (we still thought they were high). The experience was very memorable, and Dhamma Raksa (now Hong Som suite) was fantastic!

You're right Kathie... out of OP's price range... waaaay out.

Have a look at the Marina Resort as the very sound part of Karon Beach

Try the Elite Thai room at the Burasari Resort: http://www.burasari.com/guest_elitethai.htm

We stayed there during our honeymoon in November 2007 and it was great.
