Thai Sim Cards

I'd like to keep the same number as I make about 10+ stops a yar in BKK. However, it seems like the number expires after about a month, and sometimes I end up have to "start all over again". What is the solution? I heard DTAC will extend it for you. True? Anybody had this issue before?

I have a SIM card with D-TAC "Happy" which I got on the 3rd or maybe 4th floor of Phloenchit Center, at the D-TAC counter, at least 2/3 years ago. I just renewed it, for the third or fourth time, so now I can keep my number until December 30, 2010. I like having the same number everytime I'm in BKK (which is not 10 times, but it's at least 3/4 times a year or more).

Sometime, we'll have to meet for a beer at the Pickled Liver!

Carol, I'd like that very much. I often eat at the Spanish Tapas restaurant next door.

I guess the best thing is to just stop by the Phloenchit Center and the D-TAC counter and get them to do it.

That's what I'd do, degas. Tell them you want a card that you can continue to renew, year after year. One of the girls there speaks pretty good English. Some of the other people don't speak it at all. Somehow I managed to get my point across.... haha

DTAC make it simple.

You simply enter *113*360# or *113*180# and for a cost of 20 baht your expiry date is extended by 360 or 180 days. Note you can't extend past 365 days e.g. if you currently have 180 days till expiry then you can only extend another 180 days, not 360 days.

On 12Call the amount of time depends on your "promotion".
you can call AIS 1175 English Language option to sort/change this.
I believe the maximum is now only one year - it used to be two.
If your number expires, or your phone is stolen lost etc you can get you number back at AIS offices (and probably TeleWiz too).

so although you ge longer, you might ed up paying a bit more per minute for calls.
