Thai Premium Economy in Dec 06
 

Hi,

I'm thinking about going to Thailand in the middle of December and come back to the US the end of the first week in Jan. 07.

I'd love to fly Thai Premium Economy as I read so many good things about it. Any of you know how much I should expect to pay for that time of the year since it peak season? Is buying direct from the airline a better deal than going through a travel agen?

Or any suggestion for other airlines with the same kind of class?

We flew Thai PE last Nov. Cost about $1600. I think it went up slightly in Dec, ? $1800. Of course, I don't know what the fares will be this Dec. If you are going from NYC area, Thai PE is the way to go.

If you want to take a chance, you could buy a regular coach ticket, and see if there are upgrades available at the ticket counter. If there are, they might be cheaper buying upgrades with cash then. But be warned that counter clerks are notoriously ill-informed. We were told that business was sold out when it was not.((R))

I just flew it...I left for Bangkok Dec 16th and returned to L.A. Jan 07th. I didn't buy that class in advance. I bought regular economy and then when I got to LAX, there was a sign announcing that Premiere Economy was on sale for an extra $198. each way...but if you wanted to only upgrade for one way then that was OK. That was a real deal as it's usually about $250. to upgrade each way. So, if you want to take a chance, then just buy a cheap economy class ticket and then hope to upgrade at the airport. There were a lot of upgrade seats available when I flew. Happy Travels!

where will you be flying from, that may make a difference....LA, NYC, miami??

go Thai Air Prem. Econ. It was worth every penny. our tickets were $1400 back in Nov 05.

Not sure about paying $1800.00. I think I would save the $800.00 (2 pax) and stay at a nicer hotel.

jvrab -Where did you fly from? Did $1400 include taxes?

the econemy fare might be about $800-1000 and the premium about $250 more...but others can tell you better....call thai air and ask or go on their website and put in your dates...it will tell you...

for best prices go to a travel agency in "thai town" in LA...

Thai Airways told me that premium economy is 2294 plus 180 tax. A travel agency in Thai town told me it's about 1885. Ouch! December is an expensive time to travel.
