Thai Cooking classes
 

Has anyone been to the Blue Elephant Cooking School ? Am planning to enrol a staff member, first time overseas and to Asia and only 20. Can you believe it, she wants to do a course, even if it is only the am. or pm one. Are they heavily booked or would she be able to book/attend when she arrives late next week ? Many Thanks.

I have been to the Blue Elephant Cooking School. I booked in advance over its website. My class was full so they do book up but I was there in February which is high season. I recommend the morning course as it includes a visit to a local Thai market. The course was excellent - very professional with lots of staff to help out with preparation. Another bonus is that the classroom is air conditioned.

Thanks for the information Craig. Are you able to tell me what time you arrive for the morning session.We are staying at the ROS and plan to take the skytrain to Surasat. Is this the easiest way?

Another enthusiastic vote for the Blue Elephant cooking class here. I went last December, and there were only 8 of us, ranging from mid-20s to several of us "of a certain age". Do go in the morning (8:30 a.m. start time as I recall), so you get the market tour! Registering over the web worked fine for me also. And the restaurant is smack dab right at the Surasat station, so if the skytrain is convenient for you, it's simple to find it.

And now, my refrigerator is stocked with kaffir lime leaves, holy basil, galanga, and tiny fierce red and green peppers - thank heavens we have a great collection of Thai groceries here in Chicago! A great way to remember our trips.

The morning class starts at 8:45 am. Although the skytrain station is right in front of the restaurant you are better off taking a taxi from the ROS.
