Hi

I live in the Uk and I am flying to Thailand in 4 weeks. I want to book a flight from Bangkok to Phuket with Thai Airways. After I choose the flight their website is asking me to register with their frequent flyer club, but I am already a Star Alliance member with United Airlines!
Do I have to register again to proceed with the booking.

I did, takes a second, not a problem. Their service is good, timely. We flew to Chiang Mai and Krabi with them. Snacks are horrid.

BTW, you will fly to Krabi, then taxi and ferry to Phuket.

I just went through this same thing. Instead of joining their ff club, enroll as an eCustomer. There will be a prompt for ff number where you can enter your UA number.

You can fly non-stop from Bangkok to Phuket on Thai. There are plenty of flights everyday. You do not need to go to Krabi and then take a boat!

One more thing, the upgrade to business (Royal Executive Class) on Thai makes it a very appealing option. We always do.

Carol, I could not understand what the poster meant about Krabi at all !!
Obviously if they are heading to Phuket they would fly to 'Phuket'.

Kristina, on the krabi route they use 737's, that gives you 2 x 2 seating instead of 3 x 3 in Economy/coach, you also get the extra baggage allowance and you get to use the lounge, faster check in etc, extra mileage, see what the difference is, it often for the little extra gives that extra feeling of pleasure even on just a short flight.

Sorry, Just got confused. We flew to Krabi and I forgot that Thai flies directly to Phuket.

James-It's approx. $50 per person more round trip. Economy is already $150 pp r/t so I'm not sure it's really worth it (to me) for such a short flight.

We upgrade all the time on those hour+ flights from BKK to either Chiang Mai or Phuket. It's just nice to use the lounge, get a meal... even if small... and beverages and not be crowded into a row with lots of other people. The economy section can get pretty full!! Royal Exec Class, even if it's full, has plenty of room.

I checked the 2 flights out of Heathrow for you on the 31st...both flights are still selling seats in every fare class. So, it is not sold out. How close to being sold out I can't tell you. I can tell you that there are at least 4 economy seats for sale, and 2 first class seats for sale, as that's the information I got from here. http://www.flyaow.com/classcwt.htm This tells you what is available for purchase at any given time, and changes all the time.

The fare class is the letter, and the number beside it is how many seats they will sell in the fare class. They don't add together...seeing several economy fare classes with 4s beside them means that there are at least 4 economy seats for sale, not the total of all the economy fare classes together.

You could also call Thai Airways and ask them if they are oversold, or close to sold out, or far from sold out. They don't have to tell you how many unsold seats there are, and they likely won't tell you that, but they can tell you if it looks pretty full or not, or if it's oversold. Know, though, that the load changes right up until th e door is closed...so an empty plane can become oversold 30 minutes before departure if another flight is cancelled and its passengers rebooked on your empty flight...for example.
