Thai Airlines
Going to fly on Thai Airlines from LAX to BKK. The flight says "airbus 340". There's a difference in the leg room on the 340-500 and the 340-600. I went to the airlines' website and I can't find out which plane it will be. Does anyone know of way to find out except for calling the airlines directly?

Thai Airway's LAX-BKK non-stop is on the the 340-500. That's one of only two commercial aircraft models in the world that has that range. [The other is the Boeing 777-200LR.] The 340-600 cannot make that non-stop flight.

which has the greater leg room? hoping it's the 340-500......

You can see the seat pitch numbers on their website. http://www.thaiair.com/Travel_Destin...ps/default.htm
You will see on the flight schedule/flight information that the aircraft for LAX - BKK is a 345 which means the 340-500. |
According to other posters on this board, in coach, the leg room in Thai's A340-500 is one of the most generous.

I went on Thai Airways JFK-BKK-JFK on the Airbus. It was soooo cool! Its 17 hours non-stop but we flew in Premium economy ..we got a special of $199 each way to upgrade and it was totally worth it. It was way better than Business class in domestic airlines. It has the most seat pitch of all premium economy cabins at 46 inches! Also the service is excellent almost like business class(ramen noodles on china plates on demand!). There is no first class on these flights only econ, premium econ and royal silk class. The routing is cool too, since it goes over the north pole. We slept about 6-7 hours. Wonderful time. I highly recommend it for LAX or JFK (check-in is seperate) especially if they have the special upgrade deal. DO it!!! I love thailand. cant wait to go back!
