Thai Air Cancellation Policy?
 

I read somewhere on this forum that Thai has a very lax cancellation policy. Can anyone else confirm that the only penalty is about $2.60 if you cancel a leg on the day of your flight?

It depends on which fare you choose. I often buy fully flexible fares from Thai as they aren't much more and you can change, cancel, whatever for no fee at all. Lower fares have higher fees, but in general, their fees are very reasonable in comparison to what we are accustomed to here in the states. Read the terms and conditions for any tickets you buy, as every fare has its own terms and conditions.

I've bought several Thai Air flights online. I changed two of them without any charge.

I fly them because they are easy to deal with if one needs to cancel. I just called them about a week before I changed my plans...decided to go to Europe instead....during the SARS crisis... and they credited my card over the phone, minus $75.00...this was with an overseas flight. And that was back when American carriers were charging around $150.-$200.to cancel/change plans and then leaving the passenger stuck with a ticket that had to be reticketed and used within a year of the original booking...a real headache.Happy Travels!

Last time I looked local here the 'domestic' cancelation was THB 100 ( about USD 2.60/80 ) but it might be different elsewhere. But never ever been charged to change flights at all. For domestic there are 'sometimes' some promotions but otherwise fare structure is very simple.

I remember when I was flying within Southeast Asia for three weeks on Singapore Air and Thai that I changed my routing quite a bit...on a whim...and was never charged. Happy travels!

I had a ticket booked on Air Asia and I tried to change it and was told that I just had to cancel it with no refund. I just had to eat the 1,122.43 baht ticket.

I have a few legs I need to fly on my trip so I plan on booking through Thai Airways.

Are the walk up fares pretty close to the book ahead on the internet fares?
