Textiles in Indonesia?

Hello,
Im interested in going to Indonesia for
unusual and vintage textiles. Certain areas
seem to be concentrated for making these
beautiful items. can anyone give me some
advice on regions to explore?
thank you

It depends on what kinds of textiles you are interested in. There are so many different types and kinds of textiles from Indonesia...Batik, songket, pelangi (tie-dye), ikats, and other woven cloths. Perhaps the best thing is to look at one of the various books on Indonesian textiles and see what kind of things catch your eye, and then decide what to concentrate your search on. If you have any questions or would like to see examples of different textiles feel free to send me a private e-mail. As this is a non-commercial board, I don't want to push those boundaries.
