What about the other Marriott? Wouldn't the JW Marriott on Sukhumvit Road meet the OP's needs? Close to the skytrain and there's shopping nearby. Good location in the city, I think. There is a big western hotel with a parking lot that is across the street from Nana Plaza. I forget which chain it was, is that the JWM?

You all have been great! I appreciate the quick replies and wealth of information.

As you can see this trip is taking on a life of its own...maybe it's taking over my life
Anyway,

My husband and I both agree with another point that people have brought up in these repsonse posts...travel time bewteen all these places...is wasted time.

So, he stayed up last night reseaching new options to maximize our time...but in the proces discovered more places he wants to go. Here is what he proposed:
1 day in BKK
5 days in Phuket
(option)1 day Koh Yao island
(option) 2 or 3 day liveaboard traveling to Phi Phi, Phang Nang,Railey for rock climbing etc.
(option) 2 days in Ko Lanta visiting Ko Rok Nok, Ko Muk...
2 days in BKK
1 day in HKG

I am rpetty much going crazy! The benefit of doing a boat tour is that you spend less time traveling between the islands, droping bags off etc. and spend more time siteseeing and snorkeling.

Any thoughts? Is Ko Rok/Ko Muk worth seeing? IS Ko Yao a good place to go?

rhkkmk-
I saw on another post that you have left your luggage at your BKK hotel and then picked it up when you returned to that hotel after visitng other places. Is that true?

1.Do all hotels do that or just the one you stayed at?
2. How long did you leave it and what the procedue to make sure it was safe?
3. Did it cost anything?
4. Did you have to stay at that hotel first....then go to other cities...then retun to that same hotel?

Thanks

I was just putting together a plan for this trip day by with flight information included and came upon a great discovery. We get into Hong Kong in the early afternoon and don't leave the next evening until almost midnight. I have more time that I even thought in Hong Kong!! Hooray!

we have done it at the jw marriott, the marriott resort and spa, the shangri-la that i can think of....we have always done it after a stay there...they usually ask you for a room number..

i don't think about security...we don't leave anything of value more than purchases and our clothes... often someone has looked through the cases we think...

it does not cost anything...

we have left things for as long as two weeks...

just tip the guy who takes it from you when you leave it and tip the one who retreves it for you....

we have picked things up from a hotel even though we are staying elsewhere...

we have gone in and added or taken things during its time in the storage as well...

i don't think i would leave anything at a cheap hotel or one where english is not good...

we do not lock our cases...we have left open shopping bags as well....i try to supervise where they are being storred...on a top shelf, in a corner, etc...
