Taksin Palace Tour
Saw this in yesterday's Bangkok Post: For those that will be in Bangkok on 27 November, there's a tour of Taksin's Palace on offer by the National Museum volunteers. The palace was built by King Taksin who re-grouped the Thais after the sack of Ayutthaya.
Although beautifully restored and maintained, the palace is only open to small groups by prior arrangement. It's rarely seen by tourists. I got a chance to visit last year, and it's really special. You can see my photos at http://chiengfa.com/gallery2/main.ph...serialNumber=2
The tour is limited to 20 people. You need to reserve your place by 12 November. For reservations and more information, email [email protected]

Well, if there are enough Fodorites in Bangkok at the same time (I think the minimum is 6 or 8 people) I have the contacts to arrange our own private tour. It would make a very special GTG.
