Swissotel Merchant Court

Has anyone stayed here recently? We have reserved an executive club room but I have been reading reviews that say that they are quite small and indeed the superior rooms are bigger. Are they worth paying the extra(we are not business travellers)

Good question - we are staying there in February so any feedback on the hotel would be appreciated.

There are many good hotels in Singapore and if you search you can find bargain rates except when there is a very large conference or exhibition.

Hi,
We stayed at the Merchant court hotel for 4 days just last week and regret to say that we will happily choose other hotels in future.

Although this hotel does appear to be located next to an MRT station, the connecting stations are quite a distance to walk. After a long day on your feet and with the sveltering heat, it becomes such a long walk back to the hotel.

We have moved to the Orchard road area for the next 4 days. Although a tad bit more expensive, the hotels are more accessible to transportation and shopping.

just my humble opinion....

Did you move hotels just because you did not like the location or was it also to do with the hotel itself?

I live in Singapore and I would recommend staying in a hotel in Orchard Road area. There are many hotels on the river that are nice - but they are very spread out with only two metro stations, and it is easy to get lost in that area. Orchard road is just one long street - very accessible and easy to travel to other areas.

I have to admit that I find the last two replies puzzling.I have stayed by the river before- in the New Otani. I thought the location was great!

Hi,
We returned from singapore 3 weeks ago,and stayed at the novotel[formaly the new otani],we thought the location was just great.
We went to orchard road, had a look around, and were very glad that we had not chosen to stay there, much more interesting around the clarke quay area.
Transport was very easy, and it was only a short walk to chinatown, which we really enjoyed looking around.
