Sukhumvit Tailor - need your advice

I've been searching the boards (and other boards) for tailor recommendations. We'll be staying at the Majestic Grande on Sukhumvit, Soi 2.

I am trying to determine if it is worth the extra effort to head to Oriental Place to go to Cotton House and Tramps (men and women's tailoring needed). Or, can any one recommend a tailor nearby our hotel?

We'll be in town for only 5 days, the date of arrival being a Sunday, so I am trying to make arrangements before we get there.

Thanks!

You can contact Maney at 089-313-1733 or 089-822-2613 from 8 AM. She will recommend you the high quality Boutique near your stay.

Does Rjawongsee do women's clothes well also (I recall reading mixed reviews)? I had read some old posts about a Mr. Bobby being there, and then a Mr. Bobby being gone. Does the quality remain the same through the change of ownership?

Thank you!

Hmmm...perhaps I have my Rajaxxxx tailors confused. This is Victor and Jesse.

Another question, how did you all find their selection of fabrics?

i have used raja as well and was very satisfied....he is in a strip mall near the raja hotel and the nana hotel...very nice people...

cotton house is exceptional however...it is worth the trip...combine it with a look around at the oriental and oriental place and a meal at tongue thai (right in back of OP)...5 days is a short time however...most will be open on sundays...not sure about raja as they are christians and take it quite seriously....

Rajawongse (Jesse and Victor) is different from Raja's. Rajawongse does not do women's clothes. Rajawongse does have a great selection of all-season wool fabrics to choose from. I live in New England and wear my suits from Rajawongse all year round. 5 days is not much time. Go there as soon as you arrive in Bangkok.

Anyone know if Cotton House and/or Tramps will come to our hotel for a fitting or two (initial consult at their store of course). We might go that route, if we don't have to head to the Oriental 4 separate times.

Not to confuse you but Jack at Monet Sarto does Excellent work for mens clothing with 130-150 superfine Cannali, Hugo Boss and Lora Piana wools for slacks (~$60-$80) and suits for $350-$375. A comparable suit in US would be $1800 which is out of my league. He does not do well with womens clothesbased on 4 pants outfits he made for my wife. They were inexpensive but not stylish. With his workmanship though he can copy if you bring the fabric or purchase at Thompson's or elsewhere. But only when he copies. With mens though he is very good. But, be ready for 3 or 4 fittings in 3 days (1-2 hours each based on how much he is custom tailoring for you). He is in a 2 level mall behnd the Marriott Hotel & Spa.He will ship home. He split the shipping. I gave him 3 weweks to finish and it took 6-8 days to get it mailed home. It worked out for us since Bangkok was our first stop on a 26 day trip.

i frequently travel to bangkok and have been using the services of a Crown Tailor located in Sukhumvit soi 8(which is nearby soi 2, like 5 min walk). They have been suiting me up well over the years and i remember the dude saying he provides fittings anywhere. So if you need a tailor try checking them out..i have their card here the website is www.crowntailor.com..worth a look i guess..hope it helps
