Suggestions for Siem Reap hotel please
 

Please can you give me suggestions for a good hotel (not the most expensive) in Siem Reap. I know that all are pretty accessible ie. you don't need to be in the town, easy to get tuk tuk to take you in etc., but we quite like the idea of being in town too. I have looked at where Dogster stayed - interesting place! Any further ideas please?

Pansea Ankor. Or it maybe called the Residence now. Lovely hotel with beautiful and built in the local style. Great restaurant and pool. Google Pansea Siem Reap to find it. it is near the market in a local area, and away from all the big chain hotels which are on the outskirts.

We loved Residence d'Angkor and if you can get a package, it wasn't too expensive. We liked being across the river from the main town and it had more of a sanctuary feel. Expansive landscaping and welcome pool after ruins.

The Steung Siem Reap Hotel is OK and right in town. Its reviews on Tripadvisor are accurate and it's much less expensive than the Residence.

I loved La Residence but also really enjoyed the Shinta Mani and the Victoria Angkor(which has the BEST pool). All are in good locations and easy access to town.

I'm just watching from a distance. Heh. It'll be interesting to see what pops up. I'd go back to HotelBe in a heartbeat, just the same.

I stayed at the Royal Bay Inn -a **** with a rack rate of $110 and I paid something under $70 thru some internet site. It is a v. pretty hotel with fine beds *& bath, good security, large pool and restaurant alongside. Their restaurant is uninteresting, but really you need to go a short distance (probably tuk tuk) to where the Market is and the young people are which is loaded with good and inexpensive restaurants and nice walking areas.

the sofitel is quite a lovely place with a great pool area and an international feel

I stayed at the Steung Siem Reap on my last trip, and it is a very good location as well as a comfortable hotel. My favorite is probably still the Bopha Angkor. I haven't stayed at Soria Moira but it looks nice. All of these are in a decidedly cheaper class than many of the others mentioned. Your idea of "not the most expensive" and ours may differ. You'll usually get better advice if you give an exact dollar range you're looking at.

I agree with Michael that my favourate hotel is the Bopha Angkor where rooms range from $55-87 (plus 10% tax) There are many good hotels for under 100, just depends on how much you want to spend.

I reserved a room at the Angkor Spirit Palace in June because it got great reviews on tripadvisor. Anyone stayed there?

I'm looking at the Steung Siem Reap for September -- at $60 for a deluxe room I find the location and the quality of the hotel seems the best of the dozens of options I've looked at.
Oh, and that price includes a lot of extras including transfers from the airport.

I stayed at Bopha Angkor in Feb. for 4 nights. I booked their poolside package which included a bigger room, 2 dinners in their restaurant, airport pickup and dropoff, breakfast, and 2 in room massages. With the taxes, $87 a night. The walk to the Old market is 5 minutes across the river and you are their. Next time I return to SR I will stay here again.Only downside is no wifi in the room or poolside. You have to go sit in the restaurant for internet access and it's not air conditioned.

Most of the hotels have different attraction, so it depend on travelers. Considering of staying at Central Boutique Angkor Hotel, it has a good location 1 minute to Night Market, 1 more minute to Old Market. I saw a promo staying for US$40 per night free pick up and transfer, free one hour foot massage, breakfast, swimming pool, welcomed and helpful staff etc...
