Suan Lum Ferris Wheel

Okay, apparently I need to get downtown a lot more often. When did the Suan Lum Night Bazaar sprout a big-ass ferris wheel??

BTW, I spotted this development while checking out the new Fitness First Plus branch in the new "Lifestyle Center" on the corner of Sathorn and Rama IV. The club has several of the aerobic exercise machines up on a platform at the circular end of the building facing the parks, so you get a great panoramic view while using the machines.

The Lifestyle Center is newly opened and a lot of the shops aren't ready yet, but it *might* make an interesting stop later in the year when everything is open. The emphasis is on health and beauty shops.

The ferris wheel has been there for a while at least 4 or 5 months.

That's the trouble with living and working on the edge of town. I generally park the car on Ratchada and take the subway when I have to go into town. You don't see much on the underground, but they do let me play with the bomb dogs.

I think I first saw the Ferris Wheel in January?

BTW, the Ferris Wheel was invented in my home town of Galesburg, IL. I always remember that when I go by the one at Suan Lum. It reminds me of home.

I'm surprised to see that it just started running in June. It has certainly been sitting at Suan Lum longer than that.

[Beware: Tangent Ahead.]

I am almost certain that I stoipped in Galesburg on the Ak-Sar-Ben Zephyr a few years ago. (OK, I am using "a few" very liberally.)

It was 1966, and the first time I'd traveled from Chicago to Ottumwa, IA. Had Christopher Columbus taken that trip, he might well have had a different opinion as to whether or not the Earth was flat.

Yes, Galesburg is a big railroad town, and one of the stops for the California Zephyr. And yes the "Babe Magnet" lives here too.

By the way, I was born in 1966.

What were you doing in Ottumwa? I was just there a couple of weeks ago.
