Stopover in Bangkok: 5 star hotel with 2 queen beds?
 

Hi everyone.
I am staying in Bangkok on a stop over to Vietnam with my husband and adult daughter. Looking for a fancy place to stay that has room with 2 queen beds for around $200-300 USD. I have found Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit but was wondering if there are any others?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you :)

I don't know the price, but I think we had queens (not 2 doubles) at the Peninsula. It's 5 star, for sure. You might also look at the Hyatt Erewon or maybe the Intercontinental also.

No luck with Peninsula or Hyatt Erawan - only king or twin.

Intercontinental does offer 2 queen beds.

What they call 'twin' isn't necessarily two twin-sized beds... I'm almost certain we had at least two dbl size, maybe they were not queens.

Not sure about the Oriental. We had a king there. Also, the price may be a budget buster.

Another great river option is the Anatara Riverside Resort. This used to be the Marriott Resort and Spa. A number of Fodors regulars have stayed here. Its a great resort with a fabulous pool. It also has a boat to the skytrain. You can email the resort and ask about 2 queen beds. It is well within your budget. When we stayed there we opted for the jr. suite including breakfast and club room access. If this is yourt first time to Bangkok then you really should stay on the river.

I just checked their website and they offer 2 double beds which should suit your needs just fine. If you opt for this hotel ask for a river view room. If you opt for the jr suite they also offer 2 double beds.

The Sheraton Royal Orchid does offer two queen beds. I think they may be listed as two doubles. I think lots of places use two queens for their "twin room."

Are you planning to stay the 3 of you in one room? Better check with the hotels, if that is allowed.
I remember, that as soon as our daughter turned 12, we had to pay for an extra bed - no matter the size of the beds in the room.
Maybe things has changed, but better be sure.

You could also get a king plus extra bed. In 5* hotels the extra beds are excellent in my experience.

I have also experienced that one pays a fee for the extra person in the room. I also agree that the extra beds at 5* hotels are actual full sized single bed mattresses.. not something flimsy.

The Sheraton Orchid is quite nice. We stayed there once when the Pen did not have the double king we wanted. Just as an aside behind your hotel if you have 2 full days and one of you is male there is a tailor that in that time can make men's slacks, he does not do terrific job with women's clothes but super with mens, you can ask for Canali 150 Superfine 100% Superfine wool fabric slacks and he, Jack, should charge you $100-$120/pair if you purchase 2 or more. In the US they would sell for $350. It would require 2-3 fittings but after the first that would take 1/2 hour the other 2 would take 15 minutes each. To do it right it takes 3 days to make a suit and 4 fittings. The firms name is Il Monte Sarto. Just a thought.
