standard or deluxe Ichinoyu dinner?

Can anyone tell me whether to order the standard or deluxe dinner at Ichinoyu Honkan?

KimJapan Mar 27th, 2008 03:27 PM

I would ask them what the difference is besides cost and then choose.

Well, it looks like the STD meal is about 2000 yen and the DX meal is about 4000 yen.

The website also has this helpful info:
A plan : Japanese dishes
B plan : A plan plus some dishes

I see that dinner is served in a dining room and not in-room.

:)
I found the website information not helpful...

KimJapan and mrwunrfl, thanks for the replies. The website does not give much information, but I have seen others' photos of the meal courses on internet postings. The food looks beautiful and tasty, but the pictures did not help to sort out whether the meal was the standard or deluxe one. The last course was a 2 pound braised fish!
I just sent my hotel reconfirmation and asked for clarification on the meals.

That two pound fish - head and tail and all, I suppose, is probably (I am guessing) on the DX menu. The 1,900 yen for STD dinner is a modest amount. I would definitely go for the DX meal (if budget allows).

I took a look at the Momiji-so webpage because it has some info to compare with. Here is a page with photos of their standard and deluxe meals: http://tinyurl.com/2ug7go

Room rate is 7,000 yen. Breakfast is 2000 yen (actually 1000 yen more than the standard dinner at Ichinoyu). That breakfast, Western style, was not much. Dinner was good. You see that costs 7,000 yen more. Not sure if that 16,000 rate for room, bfast, and dinner is the delux or standard.

I stayed at Ichinoyu, but didn't have the dinner as my daughter is vegetarian. But be aware that Ichinoyu is close to town, one bus stop away (and bus stops directly in front of Ichinoyu) so if you did want to go in for dinner you can easily. As you say, Ichinoyu serves meals in the dining room at western-style tables. The breakfast is not elaborate, but sufficient. And they don't come into your room to put out your tatami mats or anything like that. But we enjoyed our stay there- we had the "take" rm. w/outdoor rock bath.

I appreciate your response. We are supposed to have an indoor rock bath also. How did you get from the train station to the hotel? Is Hakone-Yumoto station the closest one?

Here is a good map and explanation of the transport system in Hakone.
