SQ Executive Economy no more
Pretty reliable sources say by August 2008 SQ will remove EE seats on its 340-500 and turn them into all business or first/business configuration for the SIN-LAX and SIN-EWR non-stops.
Those who love SQ's EE and non-stop to SIN have to hurry. |
But Japan air is putting in EE on flights from London so maybe they will start from US soon
|
But the EWR - SIN non-stop doesn't have any regular economy seats, it only has Raffles Class and Executive Economy. They are going to reconfigure the whole plane to Business/First...or add economy seats?
|
No economy seats of any type. Not sure if it'll be first only, or first and business. I'll try to find out.
|
Only business is bookable. If you put in "economy" on SQ's website for EWR-SIN, it says no flights. If you put in First/Suite, it returns business fares.

I have ff seats in July, so I guess we just made it...

I just finalized (today) some tkts EWR-SIN for summer travel.
I asked two different sales agents, at two different locations, about the rumored switch to all Raffles class. Both told me no decision had been made yet, which is certainly what is reflected in the news (i.e., there are no current reports other than the idea having been floated a month or two back) and both expressed a strong feeling that the switch would not be made. Apparently, the EE seats always sell out before Raffles class and, though EE seats are certainly less expensive, there are many more of them. Having said that, I imagine the arcane laws of airline yield management, applied to ultra-long haul flights, defeats such logic. Yet, if SIA can't always fill the entire Raflles section now, you wonder why it would think they could fill an entire plane of Raffles or first class? I would think they would stop the service entirely before making such a switch. Also, as of today, they are still selling economy seats on the flights. Now in the event they do switch over (which I really am hoping against), I was told that if you are booked on the flight SIA will keep you on that flight. One can hope . . . :) |
