Special Rates on Centre Point

I know some of you like the Centre Point Silom. Right now, Agoda has it 'on sale' starting at US$49 for a studio. That's almost half the published internet rate. Here's a link:

Michael,
I'm glad you posted this. It made me curious about my own hotel (apartment) choice. I checked Adelphi, and yahooooo... they are also offering a price that is 300 baht less for 7 of my 13 nights. The other 6 nights are the regular price. That is a good savings (which I can spend at the weekend market...lol).

That's 2100 Baht. Unfortunately, Carol, from another thread, this may be a mystery amount

Oh, Andy... dear Andy...

After all my trips to BKK (15 and counting... 16 is Monday) I think I just might be able to figure out that mystery.. lol!

So when's Bali? What time of year are you and B and K going?

Carol

Speaking of the weekend market (Chatuchak), apparently it's now fully operational on Friday nights from 6:00 pm to midnight. There have long been a few shops that opened on Fridays, but I just saw a big ad that said the whole market was open. Will have to check it out some time.

Michael - that would be great if you do have a chance to check out the market on a Friday night.

Thanks for link re Centre Point. We usually stay at the Langsuan one and there are some very good deals on various sites for that one too. Also good deals hotel direct. We are just looking for booking for July

Michael, thanks for that information on the weekend market being open on Friday nights. I may just have to check that out! I think this Friday night will be busy, but possibly the next Friday... I've got 13 days in the city.

On the general subject of hotels and rates, be sure you check what's included in the rate. It used to be that you could count on the rate from most booking sites including breakfast for hotels in Asia, but that seems to have changed. The last two hotels I've booked - in Singapore and KL - did not include breakfast in the rate, or offered it separately. It seems the economic times are making hotels less generous and more competitive to offer low rates.

On the whole, I'm not minding this trend too much. The breakfast buffets seem to be an open invitation to stuff myself, so missing out on that is no big deal. In the latest case, the Grand Millennium (very nice, BTW), I was offered a "special" rate on checking in of 50+ Ringgit for breakfast. There's a Coffee Bean right across the street where I'm sure I can get a coffee and muffin for less than half that.
