Southeast Asia - December

Hi everyone, I'm considering going travelling for four weeks over December in Southeast Asia. The most important thing is that there are clear sunny skies throughout the trip - otherwise I am pretty flexible with places as I am sure each region has what to offer. Any suggestions as to where will be nice around this period?

Most all of SEa a is pleasant at that time.. Be aware that prices are the highest from dec 20-jan 3-- highest of the year.

Weather in Thailand (Bangkok and Phuket) was fabulous this past December/January when we were vacationing there. And yes, prices are pretty steep in some places.

Thanks for that. Are there any areas which may be a bit less affected by the rush of that period?

Xmas time is expensive and busy in the tourist zones.

But heaps of other places to go.

Southern thai - Prachuap Khiri Khan is good and there is Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang.

North east - Ubon, Khong Chiam, Phanom Rung, loei, khon kaen.

North - Phayao, phrae, nan, kampaeng phet.

I bet you havent heard of these places?

Neither have most of the tourist sheep in Phuket or Chiang Mai.

No guarantee of clear skies. Why would u want to get sunburnt everyday anyway?

Thanks for those pointers. I'll definitely look into your suggestions!

Weather patterns in December on the eastern coast of Thailand are different than the west coast. While Phuket is fabulous, Koh Samui, for example, would be experiencing the rainy season. You might find a bargain on Samui.
