Some help & advice please??!!

My boyfriend and I have just booked our flights from Ireland to Bali at the end of May. We stop over in Kuala Lumpur on the way out for 3 nights & we've booked the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Can someone let me know if this was a good choice??
Once we get to Bali we are thinking of staying in The Melia Bali Hotel. I really like the look of it and the spa seems beautiful. I would be so very grateful if someone could help us out. I'd be very interested to know if anyone has stayed there and if so what they thought of it. We are getting an excellent rate. We are attending a wedding in Jimbaran but we'd like to stay a little away from that area.. Have we made the right choice of hotels for peace, luxury and good service??

Message: you can't go wrong with Mandarin Oriental - we personally think they are the best chain in the world!their rooms are large, service is impeccable and attention to details is unsurpassed. Enjoy KL it is a great city!

Bali2005, if you don't get many responses, can I suggest you try posting again with a more specific title indicating what it is you need help with. Some people skip posts with non-specific headings.

The Mandarin Oriental is definitely a good choice...away from the all the noise and chaos of the city centre...it's connected to KLCC -KL's most happening shopping centre...you will find lots of designer brands as well as heaps of restaurants on the 4th floor...not to be missed is Hawker style food at MADAME KWAN..try the Nasi Bojari..you have to book or risk waiting...If you want to try Dim Sum (Yum Cha) try the Chinese restaurant Mandarin...you can also enjoy the views at nearby KL tower and the twin towers...
Cabs are plentiful but you probably have to bargain because traffic is horrendous and also Malaysian cab drivers' earnings are the least in South East Asia..the meter starts at RM2.10 which is US 55c....so have pity on them...
If your 3 days include a Sunday...go to BANGSAR..it's about 20 mins from your hotel...it's a pretty trendy area with bars/cafes/restaurants and they have an open market every Sunday along the streets...you can taste the local fares and also buy pirated movies...
If you need to know more shopping or eating places let me know...

We liked Sengai Wang Shopping Centre. Lots of small specialty shops, good for electronics, mobile phone accessories and DVD's. Have fun.
BTW The Four Seasons Resort at Jimbaran Bay has a fabulous reputation. 2 of my mates are there now-can't wait to hear their comments.
