A-you're outline looks pretty good. Your budget will be doable also. Call Bangkok Air 866-226-4565 and check out the Discovery Pass. You can send them a certified check and avoid the 5% charge for using a credit card. We've used them twice and their very prompt.
Also, we live in Cambridge and eat very often at Similans on First Street kitty- corner to the Cambridgeside Galleria. In fact, we will probably be there this Saturday. Fell freee to drop by and chat, just ask for Andy and Beth.
You will love your trip to Thailand.

thats too funny. Yeah I can see about Saturday, but already have a birthday party I am supposed to attend. I just finished booking my flights and am sooo excited! Here is my final Itinerary for 10/03 to 10/17 (the 16th being my b-day in Bangkok!):
- Flight from BOS to JFK (Delta)
- Flight from JFK to BKK (Thai-direct)
- 3 Nights in Bangkok (still looking around for hotel/bungalow)
- Flight to Siam Reap (Cambodia via Air Pass), stay for 3 nights, starting now to look for accomodation
- Flight to Phuket via BKK (Air Pass)
- Boat to Ao Phang-nga (Weather Permitting, James Bond Island), staying 1 night
- Back to Phuket
- Stay 2 nights in Phuket and on to Pai (North Thailand)
- Stay 2 nights in Pai and flight back to Bangkok via Chiang Mai, staying 1 night in BKK for my b-day and back to the US on Thai and Delta to Boston
I soo can't wait!

looks good. but it seems you just turned it into a regular old toursty trip. which is fine.
OK one of the hot debates here is weather it's worth staying 3+ days in siam reap. I'm in the camp the says you could do it in 1 DAY. minimusm 2 max. theres NOTHING in siam reap. and unless your a indiana jones you can see most of the major wats in a day or 2.
- Too many fodorites are aftaid of using the railway in thailand, but I must say they have missed seeing a lot of the country side wich makes a good contrast to hanging out in the city and beach.
