Glad you're enjoying the self proclaimed "Detroit of India." Stay cool!

Jaya Apr 30th, 2009 05:44 AM

"over one million degrees" - LOL.

Gpanda Apr 30th, 2009 06:37 AM

It's about 56 degrees (F) in Boston and very pleasant. They never stop serving beer here. EVER. It's about time the Dog got his priorities straight.

Do they have servants to cater to my every whim in Boston, Gpanda? I think not. Will my laundry be wallah'd, my beard shaved for me, my extremities pummelled on demand? [Not THOSE extremities, Gpanda] Will smiling lads bring nimboo pani when I wiggle my head, will I bathe with love-sick pugs in the blue swimming pool? I think not. Will boatwen await my regal command, ready to slip into the brown Narmada at sunset? Will my tailor whip me up a pristine white kurta over lunch?

I think not. Not for 5,000 rupees a day, anyway. For the currency challenged, that's about US $105.

But yes, granted, there is a minor off-season penance to pay: On Sunday Maheshwar is forecast to hit 120F/48C. Which will be an interesting, albeit death-defying, challenge.

I'm thinking of having the staff call me 'Mr. Dogster' while I'm there. Do you think this is going too far?

Gpanda Apr 30th, 2009 07:17 AM

In Boston, we do not have whims. I hesitate to think of the cost of your suggested services. There is some solace in being in the "Cradle of Liberty". Not to mention the home of the Red Sox.

Perhaps you could rough it for a few days. If you really want all that stuff, we can take you to vegas where everything (EVERYTHING!) is available for a price. Think open collars and gold chains. Every dog has his day.

Hi Dogster.

dogster Apr 30th, 2009 10:48 AM

Heya Mang: remember that Zone we talked about? Well, I'm 10 weeks into it now. Life is strange but in control, a calculated free-fall.

I'm about to disappear for a while. Internet is available where I'm going, in a fashion, but Maheshwar ain't a 'keep in touch' kinda place. It's the Zone of Zones.

Jaya Apr 30th, 2009 02:56 PM

Dogster, at this rate of travel you will still be in India when I get there in August! :D

MaryW Apr 30th, 2009 05:03 PM

Perhaps "Mr" is a bit far! They may well refer to that "Bl....Dog" behind your back but they may just be referring to the little flat faced ones of course.

Have a wonderful time with those pugs - enjoy, relax and stay coolish.

Hi Dog. Glad you're experiencing the depths of India. I've just returned from Thailand and have completely lost the zone. Things have changed so much there in only 5 years time, both physically and in feeling.. I'm afraid I've burned-out after this 7th trip. Thailand is a cesspool of whacked-out thinking and is at an impasse on all levels. Its becoming America at an alarming rate. Many may disagree, but this is my deepest feeling. Its lost its charm for me...at least at the moment. Be safe,

Kurt

O.K. guys - there's a man with a white hat and uniform waiting. Off to Maheshwar. Back sometime.

Marija May 1st, 2009 04:18 AM

In the US when men in white take you away, it may be a while before you're released...

Jaya May 1st, 2009 02:19 PM

Like the old song goes: "They're coming to take me away..."
