So what do you do with a 24 hour layover in Narita?

2 adults 3 teenagers, we are flying with JAL from Australia and we have 24 hours in Narita, any thoughts on what we can do or see ?

With 24 hours, I'd go into Narita town or into Tokyo. I guess it depends on what time you arrive (night, day)but in Tokyo you could go shopping in Shinjuku, Harajuku or Shibuya, eat some great Japanese food, visit Asakusa Kannon or the museums in Ueno Park. Narita has temples and shopping, is a bit more manageable size, and is quite a bit closer to the airport.

What would your hotel budget be? YOu'll need 2 hotel rooms or a large Japanese style room for 5, or you could do a 2 bedroom at somewhere like the Mansions in Roppongi

We are flying business class with JAL and they put us up at the Hotel Nikko Narita. Two room from what I understand, we arrive early evening and leave early evening the next day.

Bonjour Marko,

There are two train lines going to Tokyo from Narita in about 1 hour, Keisei and JR. Keisei goes to Nippori (Yanaka trad area) and Ueno station (great to visit Ueno, Asakusa and Akihabara), JR to Tokyo (near Ginza)or Shinjuku (Shinjuku, Harajuku, Meiji shrine, etc.). I tend to prefer Keisei since the location is convenient and the station itself is small and with many amenities (tourist office with English speaking staff, big coin lockers, good connections to the subway, just under Ueno park and its museums, 3 min on foot from Shitamachi museum).

Make sure your bags follow through directly to your next flight and book seats on a return train that will take you back to the airport early enough, then enjoy downtown Tokyo.

I meant to say we leave early evening the next day, so 24 hours in Narita.

My daughter and I will spend next Friday in Narita. We are going to try the Boso no Mura museum, then see how hot it is before attempting anything beyond the hotel pool :)

There's also lots of other things to do. Narita City has a tourism guide at http://www.city.narita.chiba.jp/engl...ide/index.html
