SO Sofitel Singapore
We will be in Singapore in mid January 2018 at the SO Sofitel. We are getting a very good room rate. What are the pros and cons? It is in the Central Business District, will we still be able to access public transportation and walk places?

Great location, I'd say, based on dozens of business trips to Singapore from 1985-2008. I usually stayed in the Raffles City hotels, currently the Fairmont.
You are just a couple minutes away from at least two MRT stations, which will get you all over Singapore. It's an easy 15 walk to the spectacular Asian Civilizations Museum, as a reference for distance.
From there you can stroll along the Singapore River, past the huge variety of OK restaurants.
Also the various Buddhist and Hindu temples, food courts and shopping in Chinatown are only a few minutes away by foot from your hotel.
Have fun.

No cons at all really. The public transportation is very good and taxis are reasonable. Singapore is clean, safe and modern. Just enjoy it. Do be aware their laws are strict so no littering, jaywalking or boisterous behavior in public.
We loved it there and plan to return. Just for fun stroll into any auto dealership and Check out prices.
