Snakes

We are hoping to travel to Asia for the first time next summer. Malaysia/Singapore seems to be our most likely destination. My one overriding fear is snakes. Can anybody tell me if my fears are justified if we follow the well trodden tourist path of KL, Penang, Cameron Highlands and Langkawi.

Have lived in Malaysia since January 2001 and have never seen a snake outside of a zoo or reptile farm.

I've only seen snake on the menu.

Thanks for the re-assurance. You read some of these guide books and they make it sound like the places are infested with snakes.

In the cities? Nah.

You might see one in the forests in Langkawi though. We joined a walking tour of the paths around our hotel and were told not to worry so much about stepping onto something, but rather to be cautious of what might hang out of a tree branch in front of our heads.
