Singapore, What is a night safari?

Could fodorites please let us know exactly what a night safari is in Singapore, also, is it worth going on? Thanks.

The Singapore Zoo - one of hte best in the region - created the Night Safari so that you can see nocturnal animals awake at night. It's basically the same as a zoo except you see a select of animals at nighttime. I would go to one but maybe not both the zoo and safari.

Both the zoo and Night Safari are well worth the effort. They are next door to each other and an ideal plan is to visit the zoo in the afternoon and then relax in the courtyard and have a casual dinner (mostly fast food) until NS opens.

NS is a great opportunity to see nocturnal animals up and about. It is best seen at a walk and there are plenty of paths and things to view, at a slow pace, to keep you busy all night. There also is a tram to get to the far end of the park.

Taxis are cheap to get there, or you can take the underground to Woodlands (or something like that, someone please correct me) and taxi from there. Around 11 PM, when NS closes there always seem to be plenty of taxis waiting to take people home.

Absolutely take the Night Safari!

It's one of the best zoo experiences I've ever had - and we go to the San Diego Zoo every other year or so.

Night Safari operates on a unique concept of having visitors at night. This is advantages for a number of reasons:
1) most animals are nocturnal and are active only at night, 2) Given S'pore's hot climate, its much better to go outdoors at night! 3) Occupies one complete evening for you , otherwise not much else to do other than pub crawl, and great for the kids (the safari, not teh pubs)
I personally like the night safari becasue of the uniquely tropical surroundings, don't miss the oppurtunity to seee the thick tropical rainforest walk
