SINGAPORE OR CAMBODIA??? (April Honeymoon)

Hi! I'm planning my honeymoon to Asia, during next April. We're planning to go to Bali (Ubud), Bangkok, North Vietnam, and we can add EITHER SINGAPORE or SIEM REAP (CAMBODIA)... Which would you recommend the most?

We need to decide really soon... and we just can't decide!!! I'll be very grateful if you can help us!! :)

How much time will you have on the ground in Asia? What are your interests?

April is absolutely the hottest time of the year in Thailand and Cambodia. So, in general I don't recommend either place for April, as it is so very hot. Unless you are acclimated to very hot, humid weather, I think touring in April will be difficult.

Certainly, Siem Reap is much more interesting than Singapore. Singapore is very clean, safe and modern, and lodging prices have become very expensive.

Bali weather will be good that time of the year. I'd recommend Bali plus central Java and maybe a stop in Singapore for the time of year you have chosen (even though Bangkok is my favorite city in the world).

Those two places are so different that it's difficult to give you advice without knowing your interests. Singapore is a big city. It has a lot of urban attractions -- fine hotels, shopping, restaurants, museums, parks casinos. If you already live in a city you may not find it appealing.

By Cambodia, I assume you mean Siem Reap and Angkor. This is one of the archeological and architectural wonders of the world. There are some nice accommodations, but generally it is a poor but gracious country. The temples are really the temples are the reason to go. I would choose it over Singapore, but that's just me.

While I would normally recommend Cambodia, April is the worst time of the year. My daughter lives there and is used to the heat and humidity but hates April! However it depends where you are from and your interests.

I think we might go for Cambodia (a more cultural experience, and I believe relaxing environment?)... We're kind of used to the heat, but i'm worried it'll be excessive. What are we talking about? 30ºC or more??

We were in Siem Reap in October and found the heat quite challenging despite our Australian background..Hoever some people found they managed well by using air conditioned cars to visit the temples. We travelled in tuktuks so had a tougher time.but all was unforgettable..lots to see....

Singapore is also hot.

April is hot visiting the angkor temples but there wont be thousands of other tourists getting in your way.

You can stay in a lovely and relatively cheap five star hotel and cool off in the pool or the air con.

Singapore is hot, but it is so easy to escape the heat by going into a shopping center or even into the MRT. At Angkor, you will be outdoors and in the blazing sun most of the time.
