Singapore for 9 days with kids - where to stay?
So we've booked our flights into Singapore for end of April (3 adults and 2 children ages 1 and 4), and I've been scouring for a serviced apartment type of accommodation and have short listed 8onclaymore and Fraser Suites River Valley. Its just more convenient to have a small kitchen and a washer dryer with kids. Does anyone have any insights as to which would be a better location and/or any thoughts? We’ll be doing the typical tourist things. I’ve been to Singapore many times but this is more for the children who haven’t been. On another note, anyone have any suggestions for what to do with kids besides the usual zoo, safari, sentosa (I’ve never been inclined to visit sentosa before but this time I was wondering if the kids would like it).

At the National Botanic garden, there is a fantastic Children's Garden. Your 4 yr old will love it. Go right when it opens. Take a picnic and after you're done, go eat on the grass by thesymphony pavillion.
Pulau Ubin. Riding the boat over there, climbing the viewing tower, and walking n on the elevated boardwalk over the tidepools might be fun. |
Thanks so much for the excellent suggestions, lcuy. The garden sounds good. Both my kids love open spaces to run around. The boat ride sounds fun too. If anyone has any more suggestions, please feel free... We've gone with the River Suites, the reviews seemed more childfriendly. Thanks again...

My daughter's BF just got back from Singapore. He said the aquarium on Sentosa was really a nice one.
And of course the Flyer is wonderful! |
Your kids will love the Singapore Zoo. You can easily spend the whole day there and there is even a water play area where they can splash about if you bring along their bathing suits.
The River Safari has just opened next door to the zoo. Unfortunately, the boat ride is not yet in operation but you can still view Giant Pandas, manatees and other animals there. If you need more information on what to expect at the River Safari, you can find a review here - http://www.littledayout.com/article/...he-rivers.html Other places they may enjoy include the new aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa or, if you are looking for something off-the-beaten track, try the Children Little Museum at Arab Street. It is a museum on old childhood toys in Singapore. Further afield, across the border in Johor, Malaysia, there is also LEGOLand and Hello Kitty Town. If you visit www.littledayout.com, there is an e-book that you can download to get more ideas of parent's favourite places around Singapore for kids. Hope this helps and that you and your family enjoy your trip to Singapore! |
I haven't been to Singapore before, but will be heading there in December with my teenagers. You might find something interesting in here:

I really like Gardens by the Bay too!

There's also LegoLand across the causeway in Johor Bahru
