Singapore Flyer: Crowded on Friday late afternoon?

My friend is leaving for Singapore tomorrow. He wants to do the Singapore Flyer on Friday afternoon (not sure what time, but I will assume after 4 p.m.), but is it crowded on a Friday? Will he need to make reservations to get on? Or can he just walk up and buy his tickets?

Does anyone have a suggestion as to whether the Flyer would be better for a day or a night ride? I imagine the skyline all lit up would be very nice but is it true that during the day you can see into Malaysia, etc? Thanks.

From what I've read in the press lately it's crowded in the evenings and on weekends. But you'll never know. If his schedule is tight perhaps it would be wise to bookonline?

Just curious which hotel did your friend book?

We booked our tickets on-line and of course a specified time slot.

However, we arrived much earlier than expected and asked if we could take an earlier slot......No Problem they said and.....that's how it was.

So in short, I would buy my ticket on-line,in advance, but don't feel tied to the allocated time slot.
