Singapore - Electronics prices

I am stopping off for a couple of days in Singapore, and wondering what the price of Electronics is likely to be. In particular I was looking at Computer components - motherboards, memory, processors etc. as well as electronic Gadgets - MP3 players and similar.

Are they likely to be any cheaper than the UK ?

Can't help you relative to prices in UK but they are overall quite cheap, I forget the name but there is a particulr area of large shops that caters for such and I have bought items there in the past and was satisfied with the prices ( compared with Thailand )

As to that mall location I am sure one of the Singapore based posters will come in and tell you, if I have time I will try and recall where it was.

Ok just went to Yahoo Singapore and got it, it's Funan, this local link tells you where it is etc, level 4 mainly for what you need

http://www.funan.com.sg/

Go to City hall SMRT station and it's about 5 minutes walk, City Hall SMRT you can get to very easily, walk down North Bridge Road, ask anyone for 'Funan'

Actually, Funan is more for complete systems. If you want components like montherboards, you would be better of going to Sim Lim Square. It is just a few blocks north of Bugis Junction.

If you are into building your own pc, then Sim Lim Square is definitely the place to go. There are many many shops waving their price lists at you. 4-5 floors? Make sure to give yourself enough time to compare prices. Besides the motherboards and processors, there are also fancy lighting accessories for your computer case. I find prices in HK are slightly cheaper but Sim Lim Square is easy to access with competitive prices. Not sure about UK prices. Don't forget your GST refund!

Last year I happened to be in Singapore during one of the shows and I spent a whole afternoon there!
