Has anyone been on this airline? We were considering it for a trip from LAX to India.

SQ has for many years been voted the top one or two airlines in the world for all classes of service. For LAX-India, consider getting the LAX-SIN non-stop on the A340-500. Even in economy, there's more room than regular coach, with 2-3-2 seating (instead of 2-4-2) and increased legroom.

We flew Singapore Airlines from Bangkok to LA and it was pure heaven. We were in business class but the folks in economy looked very well looked after too.
We too Thai Airways to Asia and it was also great.
I don't think bad service is part of the vocabulary at either Singapore Airlines or Thai Airways.

Flew quite a number of times on Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways. They are some of the best.

Singapore Air is the Gold Standard of Airline service- if the US airlines ever want to really figure out how to deliver great service- their CEO's just need to fly Sing a few times. But they might have to invigorate their flights with younger , more energetic attendants.

Well, let me put some negative points on SQ, just to be "fair and balanced". ;)

- Unless you're on SQ19/20 SIN-LAX nonstop A345, economy seat pitch on their other planes is nothing to write home about. You'll find more legroom on AA or on United's Economy + seats.

- They don't give advanced seat assignments for economy. [Or at least not the deep-discount economy fares I flew them on.] So, to get the seat you prefer, you need to get to the airport early.

- Even though they're a Star Alliance member, you may not earn 100% of the miles on UA's Mileage Plus if you're flying a deep-discount economy fare. Call UA and find out if miles are important.

I kind of agree with rkkwan..A few years ago we flew economy with Singapore Airlines...There was no legroom to speak of (and both my husband and I are short)..We flew on a discount ticket from Vancouver and did not get even 1 frequent flyer point..I thought the airline was average..at least on that flight..Service was also average, food was good but not great...I found that the service on Japan Airlines and Malaysia Airlines to be superb...Not that I wouldn't fly them again, but on our next trip to India we are going to give Cathay Pacific a try.

just about any asian airline has better service then a US carier.. BillT is correct, US airlines have way too many old surly stuff that are just counting the days too retirment rather then taking deacent care of you..
