Singapore Air non-stop SFO-SIN to start in October

I received an email this morning from Singapore Air. They will be starting a non-stop route from SFO to SIN in October and will add another 1-stop flight from LAX to SIN, so they will have two one-stop flights from LAX, one stopping at Narita, one stopping at Incheon.

Correct. Basically, they're moving the their ICN-US rights from SFO to LAX. LAX was previously 380, and now will be two 77Ws, one via NRT, one via ICN. The freed up 380 will go to LHR, replacing a 77W.

Clearly caught napping by UA's move, and have to respond quickly.

Or they just had to wait to get performance data from their 359 before making the announcement.

Last fall they also announced that nonstop flights from JFK-SIN would start in 2018.

Also, nonstop LAX-SIN service will resume again in 2018 as well with the advent of the new, extra long range version of the A350-900. Exciting stuff!

I don't know what's going on at Singapore Air, but I got an e-mail yesterday stating that my flight time has been changed from the usual afternoon flight at 2-something to a 9AM flight. Scream, as I hate morning flights. I don't have time to even deal with it now as I'm in Paris. One trip at a time. Plus, it's not until winter 2016.

Happy Travels!

I'll be happy to see that as I'm a frequent flyer on Singapore Air. I absolutely dread changing planes in Narita.

Happy Travels!

SQ long announced they will restart non-stop flights to the US with new 359ULR models in 2018.

Using regular 359 to SFO is an sudden announcement. Clearly as a response to UA's new 789 service.

Warm Sunday greetings from our fine home of Singapore -- and thank you kindly for news about our cherished Singapore Airlines. Not completely unexpected and greatly appreciated.

A number of friends and business colleagues living and working in Singapore will most certainly commence flying SQ's SIN-SFO non-stops, beginning with her launch date of this 23 October. My current work takes me to the SF Bay Area on a regular basis; so looking forward to these flights.

Preparations are well-underway for various pre-boarding festivities for the departure of SQ 32 from Singapore to San Francisco on 23 Oct. (And can assure you, the departure of SQ 31 from SFO to SIN on 23 Oct. will also have some enjoyable ceremonies.) Have attended a number of these SIA "grand openings" over the years; never a dull moment with our national carrier.

Various promotional fares are being offered with SIA's new SIN-SFO service, along with the launch of LAX-ICN (SQ 7/8) on 23 Oct. More info via: singaporeair dot com/

Good flights to you and all the best from Singapore,

robert
