Singapore Air Flight 11

We'd appreciate any information about the Terminal # in Singapore where SQ 11 arrives. We have a 9+ hour layover there, and are trying to book a stay in the Ambassador Transit Hotel which has facilities in three terminals. We'd much prefer to stay in the terminal in which we arrive after that long flight from LAX through Narita. We think that the Ambassador has us booked in a separate terminal which involves taking an airport train, but before we contact them, we'd like more specific information. If we can't book in our arrival terminal, our second choice would be the terminal in which our flight to Bali leaves, which we think is Terminal 2, but now we're not sure. Thanks, in advance, for help in clarifiying the "terminal issue" in Singapore.

SQ 11 arrives into Terminal 2 or 3. Today it is landing at Terminal 3 (20 minutes early), and my guess is that it usually arrives into Terminal 3, as I believe 3 is for US flights. To see the terminal your Bali flight will depart from, go to changiairport.com, click on “Flight Info” and enter your flight information. Also, for a list of the terminals which various airlines are assigned to, see http://www.changiairport.com/flight-...serving-changi.

Taking the train between terminals is the work of moments (it’s also quite walkable), so I would not overly stress if the hotel is in Terminal 1 and you will land/take off from Terminal 2 or 3. You may have been booked based on room availability, not the terminal(s) your flights will use.

Also bear in mind the there is a Crowne Plaza hotel at the airport, which might be more comfortable than the transit hotel, and is easily reached from the terminals.

If you can’t get boarding passes at LAX for the Bali flight, you might want to do so when you arrive into Changi by going to the transit/transfer desk for your Bali airline. This is before Immigration, follow signs. This should save you some time in the morning. If you are collecting checked luggage at Changi and will be re-checking it for the Bali flight (rather than having it transferred directly between flights where they will hold it overnight), then you probably can’t use the transit desk, but do ask about this. If you can’t use the transfer desk, after you have gone through Immigraiton and collected bags, you would go to the departure hall for your airline and check-in for your Bali flight. However, you may not be able to do that at 2 am as the check-in areas most likely will not be open, so you may have to check in in the morning. There are stored luggage facilities at Changi if you don’t want to bring bags to the hotel, but they are not that conveniently located, esp if you are departing and arriving into different terminals. (Another reason to have your bags transferred and just stick with hand luggage for the layover).

I've been flying that flight from LAX to Singapore for years and Singapore airport isn't that big.
I was last there in Nov 2009, and flew LAX-Tokyo-Singapore, arriving at around 1:00AM. I then had a flight to Bangkok scheduled at around 8:00AM.

When I stay at the intransit hotel, I book in the terminal that I will be leaving out of to my next destination, not the one that I have flown into. As for the tram, it's right there, a short walk from the arrival gate, and then it's very fast to the next terminal.

On my Nov 2009 flight into Singapore, within 30 minutes after the plane had landed, I was not only at the intransit hotel, in a different terminal, but was also in my room and getting ready to go to sleep. Singapore is very organized. Happy Travels!

Thanks for the helpful info. Are we correct in assuming that we can check our luggage through from LAX to Bali, since it is all booked through Singapore Air? That would be wonderful! We'll just carry-on enough for the "freshening up" at the Transit Hotel.

Yes, you can book your luggage all the way through to Bali. It makes things so much easier on your brief stopover in Singapore.

Kathie, thanks so much for your confirmation that we can indeed check our luggage through to Bali. That is a relief, and helps us better plan our packing.

If you are flying SQ the whole way, then at LAX they also should be able to give you boarding passes for the Bali flight. If they cannot give you boarding passes for some reason, then you can do this at the "transit/transfer" desk when you land. These are before Immigration. Just follow signs for the SQ transfer desk. You will not have to then check-in in the morning for the Bali flight, which will save you some time.
