Singapore

We have a cruise out of SIN and want to spend a week there B4 we embark so how about recommendations for hotels in areas that are centrally located and close to shops, restaurants and so on. Thank you

Singapore is a fun city, but hotels are expensive. My favorite for location is the Fairmont, located above the Raffles City shopping center and above an MRT station.

Warm Good Friday morning greetings to the OP, Larry, from Tokyo. Glad you will be spending time in our fine home of Singapore; to date, SIN has far exceeded my expectations as a place for family, work, residence.

You have received good suggestions. Not certain of your budget, but will add my old Singapore business travel hotel, the Four Seasons. Always enjoyed fine working stays at that property; great friends and staff.

Another thought is an old sentimental favourite of mine (ours), Raffles. First encountered her ~ half-century back, travelling with my parents and siblings as a rather young youth. We enjoyed a weekend "staycation" with her last year; she's aging rather well.

Another thought is the Naumi Hotel. Some family friends stayed there during the most recent Chinese New Year. We had the opportunity to see their room and her various public venues. They were very happy with their choice; I consider the Naumi to be a fine change of pace from some of the larger SIN hotels.

Finally, much more to be gleaned via: yoursingapore dot com/ With judicious planning, a Singapore holiday does not have to decimate one's finances.

Savour your planning, Larry; happy for you. Should you desire additional assistance (even with a certain Asian airline), honoured to assist. Warm Good Friday and Easter wishes to you and all from near end-of-work week in Tokyo; love Japan this time of year,

macintosh (robert)

Thanks for all your input. We decided on the Pan Pacific on Raffles Blvd. in the Marina Square area. Got a good deal including breakfast and I actually have an acquaintance who lives there and he thought it was a good choice as well.

Cheers, Larry.

Now how about some restaurant recommendations? :).
