Singapore -Four Seasons, Fullerton or Intercontinental

We only have 2 -3 nights in Singapore & are trying to decide between these hotels. FS seems most centrally located, with large comfortable rooms, good service, and good week-end rate. Fullerton and Intercontinental are not as centrally located but may have more "traditional" Singapore ambience. Recommendations, anyone?

You should also check out the Ritz Carlton. Their harbor view rooms are fantastic and they've got the best bathrooms in SE Asia.

OK...Out of the three, for me it definitely be the Fullerton. I vacation in Sinagapore annually and have been all over the main part of the city. As for centrally located, Singapore isn't that big...the whole country is only 254 square miles big...half the size of L.A. County and the inner city part is very small. The main thing is to be near a MRT (subway) station so that you don't have to take taxis everywhere(although inexpensive). The hotel that would be taxi dependent would be the Ritz Carlton. The hotel rooms there are beautiful...a marina view is a must. I still would select the Fullerton over them all. The MRT station is very nearby, it's across the short bridge from the Asian Civilizations Museum, a must, it's right at one of the quays with restaurants on both sides of the water and the incredibly good Indochine restaurant is at the quay(there are other Indochine locations in Singapore) and it's away from all of that Orchard Road busyness...which the Four Seasons is near. You can VERY easily get to Orchard Road on the MRT. Buy an MRT pass in the subway station from the ticket booth and when you leave Singpaore if you haven't used it all up, just go to any MRT booth and tell them you're leaving and they will refund you the unused portion. It's a win-win situation. Hope this has helped. Happy Travels!

The Fullerton is the hotel of choice for the business travellers who go to Singapore often over on Flyertalk.com. That said, it is the consensus there that the Fullerton's suites are very good, and the rooms are very average. Service and business services are good.

The Four Seasons is supposed to be tops in service, and although their rooms are not newly done, they are reported to be lovely. Again, though, the superior and deluxe rooms are not as special as the premier rooms and various suites. We will stay here in August in a premier room...unless we change our mind, which I am so apt to do much to the dismay of my husband who hates change of any sort.

The Intercontinental, while nice enough, is apparently not in the same league as the other two you ask about.

The Shangri-la is what many say is great. For us, the size is too big, and I've heard too many great stories about the Valley Wing there to be satisfied with one of their regular rooms...I'd be disappointed to not stay in the Valley Wing without even having had any experience there to base my disappointment on. Pool area at the Sha-la is probably the best in Singapore though.

Flyertalk reports on the Ritz Carlton rave about the Club level, and don't at all rave about the regular rooms or service. Same for the Mandarin Oriental.

You might check out the Luxury Hotels board over at flyertalk.com, and they also have a Singapore board.
