Silver shops on New Road behind the Oriental Hotel. Bangkok
 

The last time we visited these shops along New Road behind the Oriental Hotel they wanted a very high minimum purchase (10000 Baht). These shops are either wholesale only or wholesale/retail. In the past we were able to purchase many items and prices were quoted per gram without this high minimum requirement. I'm wondering if that has changed?

I was at Lin silver last month and they charged by the gram with no minimum purchase.

Yes we were at the two Lin silver shops on Oriental Lane and both sell whatever you want without minimums.

The wholesale places on New Road on the other hand are just that wholesale shops selling to wholesale buyers. Some have minimums in gram weight and others have minimums in pieces bought. All need a business card to qualify you to buy there. I just use my business card but you can have a bogus one printed up for 10.00 or so online at vistaprint.com
