siem reap to bali and back again

Ok I know I'm all over the place trying to plan our Jaunary trip but would really appreciate some advice. We can get great rooms in Bali and would love to experience the Ubud 4Seasons but I am feeling a real pull to get to Siem Reap before it gets any more developed. I'm finding it impossible to find decent air fares linking Bali to Siem Reap and back again for the NY return. Bangkok Air seems to have the best options for price to Siem Reap, but no bali -- Singapore Air is really expensive as they keep routing you back through Singapore. Any ideas? We really want to spend some time in SR and get involved in a community project besides seeing the ruins. I tried routing EWR to Bali to Siem Reap and then home via Singapore Air and it just got prohibitive.

Bangkok Air certainly is your best option for Siem Reap.Several flights every day.Where are you flying from? You will probably need to stopover at KL. DONT miss Siem Reap and do it soon

Bangkok Air is the only airline that flies from Bangkok to Siem Reap. Silk Air (a subsidiary of Singapore Air) flies from Singapore to Siem Reap, but it is quite expensive. Bali and Siem Reap are really quite a distance apart, so you will pay a lot to visit both places in one trip.

Thanks Kathie. Leigh we are flying from Newark and Singapore Air's Executive Economy seems the best bet for comfort/cost. I've flown them before. We get employee benefits at 4 Seasons so it seems a shame to go all the way to Asia and not use those at one of their resorts, already did Chiang Mai last year. Langkawi appears to be booked for January already, not sure the benefits will work in Samui as that is so new, where as with the rainy season in Bali those resorts are historically easier to book into. Luxury problem, I know.

Do you already have NY-Bali-NY tickets? If not, why are you going back to Bali?

Jetstar Asia flies between Singapore and Bali and between Singapore and Siem Reap. Air Asia might also be a choice...BKK - Phnom Penh then bus to Siem Reap (5 hours).

I'd suggest that you break it down to two separate segments: SR to a major SEAsian city (like Singapore, Bangkok or KL) then from that city to Denpasar.

In doing this you may have to fly two airlines. I'm not so familiar with SR routes, but I know that there are several budget airlines that fly from Singapore to Bali. And Garuda and Malaysian are usually in the lower range of fares.

I haven't flown with JetStar yet but they get very good reviews. We will use them next summer between Singapore and Siem Reap. Their "regular" prices are very good. But if you purchase tickets before November 17 AND there is availability there are some fantastic S$2.00 fares (plus tax/surcharge, but very cheap still) for flights through end of June, 2007. They fly to Siem Reap on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays from Singapore. You can book the special fare on their website. there are still seats at that price when you want to travel.
