Siem Reap restaurants
Any suggestions of good restaurants in Siem Reap city center (up to 15 usd per person)?
|
For a light lunch consider The Shinta mani hotel - lovely spa cuisine. In the center of Siem Reap are a number of lovely restaurants - we liked an Italian and a cafe (don't remember either name) - yr budget is generous for stand alone restaurants so u shd have no problem. Will post again.

The Siem Riep Restaurant was very good and cheap. The night I was there it was PACKED, not one empty table. I am one of those people who won't eat in a restaurant if it is deserted.

If you want a good place for people-watching and ice cold beer with pizza, try "The Red Piano." It's at a crossroads in the center of town.

i second the red piano and would also add the La Noria which is just across the river from the grand hotel

La Noria gets lots of recommendations from guidebooks, and Bob apparently had a good meal there. Our meal there was very mediocre, and it was the one place where we were biten by mosquitos despite repellant and coils buring beneath our table.
The best meals we had were at the Angkor VIllage Resort. They have a fixed menu each night of French food (which I didn't try), but they have a nice a la carte menu of Cambodian food which was very good. |
Dead Fish Tower for a unique experience & great Cambodian & Thai food. What a weird place! Unforgetable. Live crocs etc. Approx US10 pp plus booze.

interesting what kathie has to say here...we stayed at angkor village and were very disappointed with the lunches and dinners....some were just plain bad...we do not remember any choice at all...we went in november which should be prime season too so i do not understand...we only remember a fixed meal...times change....
kathie === we did visit your jewerler in bkk....too big and busy for us....we think we may have been taken there on an earlier trip....we'll stick with our small family jewerler....karen did make out like a bandit this trip....we were disappointed with the sheraton too....i have just started my report on fodors so look for the details...we were not on the top 3 floors however... we were on 21...more later |
When I was in Siem Riep, I asked my guide about Red Piano after reading recommendations on this forum. He replied that it had very mediocre food that had little to do with authentic Cambodian cuisine. He said that there were far better restaurants in Siem Riep.
