Siem Reap outer temples
We've been to Siem Reap before and seen the "main" temples.
We're going back in Nov, could you please suggest some outer lying ones less visited, we're there for 4 days? Thanks Dot |
Do you have the Dawn Rooney book? Angkor: A Guide to Cambodia's Wondrous Temples
As you'll see from the book, there are many, many temples to select from. Also, don't forget that if you saw the "main" temples, that there are many "minor" temples close in that are well worth a visit. |
Haha Kathie, you love that book dont you. No I dont have it, but will source it now.
And yes we intend getting a tuk tuk out to have a better look at the minor temples that our last guide wasn't interested in. |
lol, yes, I do love that book. Indeed, I have a copy of the first edition, published in 1994, when going to Cambodia was still a dream. We carried the latest edition with us when we visited in 2001 - though we had virtually memorized the book before we went! I think it is indispensable for anyone interested in Angkor. We have quite a collection of books on Buddhist arts and architecture, and I think it is still the best carry-along guide to Angkor.

Bantey Srei and Beng Melea are probably the two most interesting of the outer temples, plus the Roulos Group, if you didn't see that already. It's closer in. I keep promising myself Ko Ker, but not this year, I think.
