Siem Reap info request.
Hello All,
I am planning to be in Siem Reap for 4days mostly first week of September, flying in from Bangkok. I was reading the travel books, but could not get any solid recommendation for the hotels. I would really appreciate recommendations on hotels on midrange hotels, $20-$40/day for single person. Also recommendation for tour guides is greatly appreciated, if possible e-mail of the tour guide Thanks |
unable to suggest hotels at that range, but suggest that when you select your hotel have them get you a guide...there is also a brother and sister who are often talked about on this forum

In Nov 2000 I stayed at La Noria which is on the east side of the river and near the Royal residence and the Grand Hotel's garden. E-mail address was: [email protected]. Fax no. (063) 964243. It's a nice, small place (20 rooms) with basic facilities (including a private bath). The garden is wonderful. Enjoy.

At that price you might try the Prum Bayon (on the road from the airport to town). We stayed there a few years ago and it was extremely clean, friendly staff, decent if small rooms, good air con.
Here's a link that has Prum Bayon and a lot of other hotels in SR. http://www.asia-hotels.com/hl/Siem_Reap-Cambodia.asp We also like the Angkoriana Villa(on the road from town to the ruins). It is about $50/night, but breakfast included and very nice, spacious rooms. Everything works well -- air con, hot water, etc. Less than a 10 min drive to the temples. http://www.cambodia-travel-hotels-to...iem-reap.shtml |
I just got back from there having stayed at the Apsara Hotel. About 45 a night but very comfortable and near the airport. I have the email of a girl who works the desk if you want it. 99% chance if you just go there you can get a cab to take you to different hotels and you can decide then. There are many hotels and many more soon to open.

I wouldn't really recommend the place we stayed - can't even remember the name it was so unforgettable (the Safir?).
But I WOULD recommend staying in town or on the temple road instead of the airport road area. Basically Siam Reap has 3 main areas: the road from the airport into the town, the town, and the road from the town to the temples. Granted, the town is very small and the distances from one place to another are less than 5 minutes by motorbike taxi - but we still prefer to be in the town so that we can just leave our hotel and walk around, which you wouldn't be able to do if you are on the airport road. |
Yes, I'd like very much to get contact information for the Apsara Hotel, please.
Thanks so much. geegie |
Hello All,
Thanks for the information, I enjoyed my trip to Siem Reap, it was awesome!!!. I stayed at Marina Lodge run by Pon Heary, for $15/day. The room was clean, hot water (instant heater), good A/C, in short basic, clean and nice. She was my guide, had good experience, very helpful especially when haggling :) Had a very nice experience and enjoyed it a lot |
Hi there. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about Borei Angkor hotel. It is available via directrooms.com for US38 per night. It looks great. Would love to hear if anyone has a comment to make. Tks.
