Siem Reap Hotel
Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Siem Reap? We'll be there for 3 days at the beginning of November. We understand that the heat requires a dip in a pool in the middle of the day, so we are looking for a hotel with a nice pool area/rooms.
Thanks. |
sofitel would be very nice...it is quite expensive....you did not mention a budget??

Thanks for the reply, rhkkmk.
I'm not on a real strict budget so the Sofitel may be ok. The pictures don't look that appealing...maybe they were just bad photos. What about Pansea (sp.??) |
There are several in that price range (below the Sofitel) that have gotten some good reviews. The ones I think of immediately are the Pansea, the FCC, the Shinta Mani and the Angkor Village Resort. All have swimming pools.

I stayed at the Sofitel last November and loved it! The pool area and grounds are beautiful. Our room overlooked the pool area. Rooms have hardwood floors, marble baths...very nice. Staff was very helpful and always pleasant. I could have stayed there a lot longer.

pansea is a very nice french run hotel..it is in a good location...any of the above mentioned places are good as well
don't go strictly by any pics on the net!!! |
Regarding a good place to stay in Siem Reap, I highly recommend the Garden House Guest House. It is not fancy but clean, friendly with the availbility of guides to Ancor Watt. Our cost was marginal compared to the hotels in the area. Their email as of 3/04 was [email protected] Can probably answer other questions as niece was PCV in N.Thailand for three years.

The Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor has one of the most wonderful pools we've seen. It is huge -- long enough to swim real laps, and wide enough that one does not feel crowded at all, regardless of how many others are cooling off in the pool as well.
