Very easy, Marilyn. I spent 2 1/2 days in Siem Reap, but only one in Angkor Wat.

And one more thing- I chuckle at both you and Tim, Marilyn-'cause you both seem to be overly fixated on the fact that I was content to spend one day in Angkor. Yeah, whatever.

Marilyn Jan 18th, 2003 09:37 PM

Caren, I'm not fixated on it, I just find it surprising. It seems to me like going all the way to Egypt and spending one day seeing the antiquities, pyramids, etc. I suppose there are folks who would be content with that, and feel that they had "seen" the sights.

If ancient cities in the jungle covered with incredible artwork are not of that much interest to you, fine. There's no law that says we all have to be interested in the same things. But I think that to advise someone on a travel board that they can "see" Angkor in a day is misleading. Just a different opinion.

Marilyn, give it up, Caren is troll. Everything she has stated about the Oriental (which I have stayed at) is erroneous. On another post she disparaged Sala Rim Nam, although she was never there, but raved about Le Normandie, which she never set foot in either. Don't waste your time with her.

Thanks everyone for your replies! And hey, if a day in the Angkor ruins is enough for someone, that's cool, they shouldn't have to defend themselves. Thanks for responding, Caren. As it turns out, we couldn't get flights to Siem Reap so we're not going. Hopefully some other time!
