Side trips from singapore
 

We are goig to visit our college age daughter in singpore next month. we have been in singapore and other areas before. we have about one week in between in singapore to travel. we are considering a short three night visit to no. thailand and on to no. bali or fly to bali and three day sail trip to flores and komodo national park and then return for four nights to bali. we have stayed at ritz carlton before and may try matahari resort in the north. any thoughts.?

With a week, I'd try to find a place with plenty to offer for a one week stay without needing to take a flight to another area.

Northern Thailand has lots to offer. If the area interests you, I'd suggest hiring a car and driver and doing a loop, perhaps to include Pai or Mae Hong Son as well as Chiang Mai and the Golden Triangle.

Another option would be Cambodia - perhaps 4 or 5 days in Siem Reap to visit the incredible temples at Angkor plus a two day stop in Phonm Pehn.

Your idea of Bali plus a sailing trip also sounds excellent.
