Siam Heritage Bangkok w/kids?
 

The Siam Heritage is appealing for a number of reasons, not least for its 2-bedroom suites, ideal for us and our two kids (teenage daughter and pre-teen son). Does anyone have any thoughts about the location adjacent to Patpong? Will I really need to put blinders on the kids on our way to the Skytrain station?

This boutique hotel is great location

40 minutes drive from Bangkok International Airport.
15 minutes drive to Queen Sirikit Convention Center.
5 minutes drive to Expressway.
Waking distance to Sky train (Silom Station) or Subway (Samyan Station).

The kids will not need blinders as you can walk to the skytrain/subway station without going through the adult entertainment section on Patpong. Anyway it is very low key (except for the hawkers) until you enter the establishment.

I don't know what you have to pay for a 2 bedroom at Siam's but for under $200 at the Somerset Suwan Park you can get a larger 2 bedroom. The location for shopping is much better and it is close to a skytrain station.

Also have a look at the Centre Pointe Silom Apts. which are located down by the river and close to skytrain/ferry stops. A Robertson Dept store is adjacent for your convenience. Cost are a little more for a very large 2 bedroom.

Thanks for the advice. The 2-bedroom at Siam Heritage is actually a bit expensive at 10,000 baht (in fact, more expensive than booking two separate rooms). But, as I am very late in making my plans (we'll be in Bangkok on Dec 29, 30, 31), the pickings are a little slim. Somerset Suwan doesn't have any 2-bedrooms available and neither does Centre Point Silom, although those both look like attractive alternatives. Siam Heritage's cancellation policy is rather severe (the deposit is non-refundable), so I'd like to explore alternatives. Anyone else have any suggestions?

You are staying at one of the busiest times so the selection may be limited. You might try the following

I really enjoyed the Siam Heritage. It`s a lovely hotel. the Patpong is about 3 blocks away, and there is nothing to see during the day. You do have to get off the main street to walk into it, so I wouldn`t worry about that at all.

Grand President looks great but its suites do not have twin beds (a must for the kids' room). Grand President's sister property, Pantip Court, does have that crucial twin bedroom. But a search of the message board doesn't turn up any comments--does anyone have experience with Pantip Court? Grand President has another sister property called Legacy Suites, apparently opening on December 1. It's at Sukhumvit Soi 29. Any thoughts on this location?

My alternative is to simply book two regular hotel rooms. Can anyone advise on Holiday Inn versus Sofitel Silom?
